About Odesa Polytechnic National University

The history of Odesa Polytechnic National University began on September 18, 1918. Over the years, the university has launched thousands of young professionals into their careers. Among its graduates are many talented engineers, scientists, leaders of scientific organizations and universities, top management in various industries, as well as political figures.

Today, the university is a major training center for highly qualified personnel in southern Ukraine. Odesa Polytechnic National University is one of 14 Ukrainian universities that are members of the European Universities Association, and one of four Ukrainian universities that are members of the International Universities Association.

Odesa Polytechnic National University has established a comprehensive 'polytechnic university' complex, uniting lyceums, high schools, colleges, and technical schools across the entire southern Ukraine region. The university trains over 20,000 students, graduate employees, and post-graduate students, supported by a staff of 4,000 lecturers, researchers, and practicing engineers. Among them are 57 academicians and corresponding members of various Ukrainian Academies of Science, over 120 professors and Doctors of Science, nearly 450 senior lecturers and Ph.D. holders, 21 honored workers of Science and Engineering of Ukraine, an honored worker of National Education of Ukraine, and 13 academicians from international academies.

The building of Odesа Polytechnic National University sustained significant damage after a missile strike on June 14, 2023. The windows and doors of eight buildings at the educational institution were damaged, along with approximately 1,000 square meters of glass windows and 1,800 square meters of roofing.

The second academic building, constructed in 1956, was the most severely affected, with the blast wave ripping off the roof. The interior walls and partitions were also damaged, with some completely collapsing. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

As of early 2025, the facades have been fully restored, and extensive repairs are currently underway.
